Short Circuit Indication & Auto cutoff

This is a simple circuit to prevent a system from continuous short circuit conditions.

When the input voltage is supplied to the circuit, current will flow through the red indication LED which connected to normally closed (NC) terminal, but the voltage across the output terminals equals to zero.

Once the Push Button is pressed, green LED which connected to normally open (NO) terminal will be on and the current will flow through the load connected to the output terminal.

Since the common terminal and the normally open(NO) terminal is connected to each other, supply to the relay coil will not be cutoff. Hence the relay will remain in the NO configuration.

If the output terminals are to be shorted out, voltage supplied to the relay coil will be instantly drop, causing the relay to loose the self holding ability.

Hence the relay will be back to its previous initial state.

By pressing push button again, the system can be reset and operate normally as described above.

Tools & Components

1 X Relay Module (5V)

1 X LED(Red)

1 X LED(Green)

1 X 220 Ohm Resistor

Normally Open(NO) Push Button

Connecting Wires

Connecting Components

Safety First !
Always Connect the power supply if you are absolutely sure that the components are connected correctly without changing polarity and short circuited the wiring.
Even if it seems nothing is wrong : DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING !!
